Jon Marchman as an official 'bout '85 |
Pete Hill's supercharged knucklehead in the 80's |
Look! It was street Legal and it was...BAD!! Bout 82 |
Wesley Matthews, early Temple Drags |
This was the Diffin Brothers fuel sportster in about ‘85. With Ray Price tuning it they were dicing it out with “The Judge” & “MO” & holding their own and winning their share.. |
Leo Hess, early 80's. Recognise any bystanders? |
This is a pretty bad print - (don’t try adjusting your computer) It’s KT & his old partner with Miss Harley Davidson 1984 at Temple. |
This is Austin’s Charlie Machado at the first Temple Party Drags and that his son on the same bike at the same track 20 years later - last I heard they still had the old XL R and was waiting for a GRANDCHILD. |
Duke McDonald’s blown fuel shovelhead. Check this thing out, It was built in the late 70’s and ran like stink when he could keep it together. About 4 passes was as much as he could ge t on a motor and it wasn’t something you could do at the track. Cost him a FORTUNE - but he owned a seaport in Alabama - so what. |
Early Temple - Ron Hall in the background |
This was me and Truett pulling back from the big end out in California in the mid 70’s. We never used tow bikes then. We’d door - handle fuelers to crank ’em, make a pass and then door - handle back fro m the big end. |
This was my first "fueler" in 1973, a 114" Shovelhead in a Chapman Chassis. That sucker would do everything but go straight down the track, note the lead on the front |
downtubes to hold the front end down., no wheelie bars back then !! This was taken at Truett & Osborn’s race just before I got beat by Teddy Sondregger from St. Louis. |
This is Ray Willett when we had Eastex Dragway just North of Houston in the early ‘90’s. He was our full time Announcer and now he’s the Texas Style Party Drags Tower Boss. |
Me riding Bonnie Truett’s Sportster in the early 80’s at Gulfport after the "first" time he retired. I think that this is the one that was Mike Romine’s first dragster. |
This was Bonnie Truett’s double engine Sportster in about 1974. This thing was definately a handfull.. I’ve seen this digger with the front end 4’ up in the air !!!! yyyyyyyyyeeeeeee hhhhhhhaaaaaaa!!!!!! |
