…The 28th Edition of the Temple "All Harley" Party Drags was deemed a "SUCCESS" by pretty
well everyone that enjoyed the "cool" evenings or the "hot" action on the dragstrip that Labor
Day Weekend 2010 provided.
….Veteran Nitro Harley Racer "Jocko" Mitchell waded through the Top Fuel Harley Field to take
out San Antonio’s Tom Tomlins Alcohol Racing Team for the Top Fuel Win. Mitchell & Crew
Chief Phillip Crouch & company thrashed minor gremlins on the starting line during qualifying
and but put the Ace Powder Coating - Phillip’s Garage down the track with 3 "GOOD" laps.
…Houston’s Hal Cort had unloaded with Low E.T. of the Meet and came to the Eleminations
with his bike "set on kill" ready to win. Unfortunatly it "died" prematurely during the semifinals.
Jim Burgess riding his famous "Firetruck" fueler looked better than he has in years many
people commented while Norman "Shorty" Reed brought out his new fueler out into
competition for the first time at Little River Dragway. While not surprised by experiencing
expected "shakedown bugs" the East Texas team was happy to be able to go home with the
bike undamaged.
….Unfortunatly "undamaged" wasn’t what came to pass for the father & son team of Louie &
Carl Guisto. After winning Top Bike Consolation last August 14th at the Houston "All Bike"
Championships while finding & fixing several things along the way they came up from the
Angleton area ready to do it again. Unfortunatly, a Friday nite "check out pass" during Little
River Dragway’s Street Racing damaged enough parts to end the team’s weekend.
…In Top Alcohol Harley, Shorty Reed pulled out his National #1 bike and the old bullrider "put it
on ‘em" during Eleminations. His final round match-up had probably as many "fence hangers"
looking on as the Top Fuel Finals as Kerry "Amazon" Tate riding her first Texas Style Prty Drags
race GOT AROUND HIM once during a side by side qualifying pass earlier in the weekend. Kerry
was seen earlier limping from a close call pass earlier when she throwd a foot down to keep
upright but folks could see "the face of determination" Shorty had on in the other lane. John &
Sandy Peek, Hollywood’s Team, Jeff Brown’s & Billy Shoemaker’s Destroyers, that "well
worked out" orange & white Sportster and more made an "interesting" Top Alcohol BATTLE.
….Doug Meador took Macho Eleminator - Lloyd Stenerson won Nostalgia Fuel Harley & there’ll
be a full rundown of the eleminations and the Labor Day Weekend’s activities posted in the
next few days along with more photos and videos to augment what we pick up from Gin
Meador on her way out of the gate yesterday….
