Sportsman bike racin’ was hot & heavy at the Dallas "All Bike" Championships with plenty of options for racers to choose from, popular Index Classes,
E.T. Brackets, & Harley Trophy classes. The crowd whooped & hollared for their favorites and "The Concrete Palace" AKA Dallas Raceway was
enjoyed by all.
…Houston’s Paul Holman who has been racing the same blue & white Suzuki for several decades took Pro E.T. After defeating one of the "infamous"
Mathews brothers of La Grange in the Finals Holman told a person who asked how many passes he had on the bike replied, " I gave up counting at
1000 and that was a long time ago!!!"
… In 8.90 Index, Dwayne Gaines running out of Oklahoma City took out Waxahachie’s Kirk Reeves when Dwayne ran an 8.954 to Reeves .15 over 9.05
at a faster 144.32 to Gaines 132.91. Both Glyn and Michael Mathews ended up in the 9.50 Index Finals with Glyn taking the win with a slight holeshot
9.65 over Michael’s 9.62 on the 9.50 dial.
…Harley E.T. went to Choctaw Oklahoma’s Dave West who got around College Station’s Pat Cole when Dave went a 12.44 on a 12.35 dial to Cole’s
11.13 on a 10.93 as Cole tried to run him down going 117 mph to West’s 105.
…Street E.T. Came down to Jim Roberts’ 08 GSXR 1000 Suzuki & Ralph May’s Evo Sportster after several rounds of GOOD ACTION from a large field.
9.23 dial for the Willis based Suzuki & 14.10 for the West Monroe Louisiana Harley. The Sportster left on the Suzuki .063 to .256 but the Suzuki came
on STONG on the big end with a 148.20 charge running a 9.17 on his 9.23 dial breaking out. But it was something necessary to do as Ralph went a
14.11 on a 14.10 dial. That’s how good THAT CLASS WAS all during Eleminations!!!
….TMFC’s P Class entry lost to Bryan’s Pat Cole as Redeye left on Cole .330 to .375 only to be run down with Coles 1119 mph big end charge to the
Dallas bike’s 107 mph. F Class - Hot Street Sportster, to anybody that don’t understand "Texas Style Party Drags" lingo ended up as with the same
"Battle of the Century" guys Doug Meador and Denny Davis that have met in the Finals many many times before. THIS TIME !! Doug left on Denny and
was about 2 or 3 miles per hour faster all the way down the track for a very close win making the nearly 7 hour trip to Dallas from the Texas coast
well worth the effort.
…In Class (MM) Hot Street FL Evo, the staging lane looked the fullest. A pie plate on the ground even read, "reserved for txtech10502" saving space
for one competitor. That battle came down to D & S Performance Owner Dean Shayna and Lake Kiowa’s Lee Brooks. When the tree came down the
Dallas based professional motorcycle tuner Shayna proved he still "had it" when he laid a 10.90 at 120 miles per hour on Brooks.
…Unfortunatly the R Class racin’ report must have gotten kicked under the counter and overlooked in the tower as the results of the war between
William McNally’s Addison based V-Rod Destroyer, Billy Shoemaker’s Austin Destroyer and Bill Flaherty’s 79" bike won’t be reported on.
…Shreveports Christopher McKay took V-Rod Gold over Joe Ramirez in a supprisingly close 11.92 to 12.19 Final even though McKay had nearly 10
miles per hour across the finish line over Ramirez’ Dallas bike. Christopher also brought his 1967 SHOVELHEAD which earned him a trophy for being
the only competitor in that wonderful class.
…Steve Hohner brought his 92.7 inch Sportster out to earn the Street Racer XL Trophy and also got gold with his 1200 cc Buell in Hot Street XL BUELL
(FF) CLASS. Gene Gresham of Dallas took a trophy with his Stock FL Evo at the Concrete Palace and West Monroe Louisiana’s Ralph May, a budding
computerist, went back to Kristie with a trophy earned with his Stock XL Evo (E Class) hot rod.
…..Springtime will find the Texas Scooter Times back at Dallas Raceway for next years Dallas "All Bike" Championships - Hopefully everybody had
enough fun to keep the wrenches spinnin’ all Winter……
